Country: Scotland
Brand: Dewar’s White Label
Type: Blended Whisky
Age: Unspecified
Alcohol: 40%
Colour: Amber
Nose: Some Smoke and Leather but mainly sharp young Alcohol not unlike simple Brandy, with Malt, a little Oak, Sherry and bitter Orange
Taste: The delivery is not very strong. Some Oak, Malt and Pepper. It’s Short, Sharp and Dry, not unlike inexpensive peppered Vodka.
Finish: Short and Uneventful. After a while I got an unexpected - and unwanted bitter taste in the mouth. Is it Sulphur?
Rating: 65
Nose: 17 – Taste: 17 – Finish: 15 – Overall: 16
General Remarks. I added quite a few drops of water which brought out more malty sweetness in the nose and took away some of the sharpness in the taste.
Drinking Experience Neat: Below Average. It is advisable to open the bottle a few days before drinking and give it some air. During my first tasting I found the blend rather unpleasant to drink but over time it got a bit better. On the Rocks can be recommended in this case.
Conclusion: Apparently this is one of the best selling Scottish blends in the USA. Oh Dear!! After having tasted some Bourbons I wonder why they would bother importing this blend.
What a pity I bought a whole bottle of this. A miniature bottle should have been quite enough!
